Barbara Ann (Salinger) Lowell, age 87, most recently of Marshall, Michigan passed away peacefully at the home of Mark and Marilyn Lowell on Wednesday August 21, 2019.

Barbara was born on July 19, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Edna (Nelson) Salinger, in Highland Park, Michigan. She married Owen Lowell on January 26, 1951 at the home of her parents. Barbara and her husband operated a dairy farm for many years in Manchester, MI. She worked her entire career for the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources Institute for Fisheries Research in Ann Arbor, as a steno and office manager. Her shorthand never diminished, even in her 87th year. As a busy homemaker, you could always hear her singing or humming her favorite hymns as she went about her housework.

When she and Owen retired, their greatest joy was traveling and visiting relatives and friends who shared their faith in God. Times spent with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were always extra special. Barbara enjoyed bringing color into the lives of others through the gifts of the many crocheted afghans she lovingly created anytime she was relaxing at home or traveling in the motor home.

Barbara is survived by her 4 children, Denise Stovall, Mark (Marilyn) Lowell, Douglas Lowell, and Richard Lowell; 6 granddaughters; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen on December 13, 2017; and parents, Frank and Edna Salinger. Visitation will be held at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 Old US 27 North, Marshall Chapel on Sunday August 25, 2019 from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. Another visitation will be held on Monday August 26, 2019 from 4-6pm. A funeral service will follow Monday at 6pm. Barbara will be laid to rest next to Owen in Washtenong Memorial Park Cemetery in Ann Arbor on Tuesday August 27, 2019 at 9:30am.
