Gretchen Strider Gill passed away in the arms of her parents on May 29, 2018.

Gretchen was born on September 19, 2017 at Mott Children’s Hospital with a diagnosis of Peroxisomal Disease, Zellweger Syndrome. She was a fighter and surprised doctors and nurses over the months with her resilience and inner strength. Gretchen touched many lives in her brief time with us and she was adored by family and friends.

She leaves behind her loving parents Joseph and Jessica (Van Pelt) Gill, great-grand mother Jesse Murphy, grandparents Nancy Gill and Steve and Cynthia Van Pelt, aunts Sheila Gill, Shelly Van Pelt and Elizabeth Van Pelt. We wish to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Mott Children’s Hospital NICU and PICU for their kindness and gentle care.  Also, to the staff at Mercy Plus Home Healthcare for bringing Tina Aldridge into our lives to help with the care of Gretchen. She truly became part of our family.

Gretchen will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Ann Arbor, MI.  A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders (GFPD), 5147 South Harvard Avenue, Suite 181, Tulsa, OK 74135.
