NHL player Austin Watson, whose family resides in Saline, scored his second goal of the season Sunday night as his Nashville Predators fell to the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-2.
Watson scored 2:01 into the third period. Mike Fisher won the face-off and then got to a loose puck. The 6-4, 210-pound Watson went to the front of the net. Fisher's shot got between goalie Corey Crawford's legs and then hit the goalpost. Watson beat Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Duncan Keith to the puck and tapped it into the yawning cage.
Watson played a strong game and played a career high 16:21.
Nashville drafted Watson in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
The Watson family attends St. Andrew's church and has several children in Saline Area Schools.
